Product Overview

The Everyday Premium Basmati of Pakistan

Why PK-386 remains the highest-volume basmati line in most importers' portfolios.

If 1121 is the variety buyers reach for when grain length has to be visible on the plate, PK-386 is the one they reach for when aroma and eating quality matter more. Its kernel is slightly shorter but noticeably plumper, and it carries the stronger, more traditional basmati fragrance that many households and restaurant kitchens across South Asia, the Gulf, and East Africa specifically ask for.

That combination — real aroma, soft texture, and a price point below extra-long grain varieties — is why PK-386 moves in the largest volumes. It cooks fluffy and grain-separate, absorbs spice and stock well in layered dishes, and behaves predictably in high-volume kitchens where cooks do not have time to adjust water ratios batch by batch.

Amal Trade sources from established mills in Punjab's rice belt and supplies the variety in four processing forms. Every lot is cleaned, de-stoned, graded, colour-sortexed, and packed under our ISO 9001:2015 quality system. Buyers stocking a full range may also want to compare our Kainaat 1121 extra-long grain basmati or browse the complete rice export range.

Why PK-386

Aroma and Texture Buyers Come Back For

Three characteristics that decide repeat orders in aroma-driven markets.

Pronounced Traditional Aroma

The fragrance profile most consumers associate with genuine basmati — present in the pot and still noticeable on the plate, which is what drives brand loyalty in retail.

Soft, Fluffy, Separate

A plumper kernel gives a softer bite than extra-long varieties while still cooking grain-separate, suiting everyday consumption as well as festive dishes.

Volume-Friendly Value

Priced below extra-long grain basmati while retaining full basmati character, which makes it the practical choice for large retail and catering programmes.

A Note on Aroma and Crop Year

Aroma intensity in basmati is not fixed — it varies with growing conditions, crop year, and storage. Properly aged rice also cooks better and breaks less than fresh-crop material, which is why most mills hold paddy before milling. We state the crop year and realistic aroma and cooking characteristics for the specific lot being offered, and we recommend that first-time buyers run a cooking test on the pre-shipment sample before confirming a full container.

Questions

PK-386 Export FAQs

The points importers raise most often before placing a first rice order.

How does PK-386 compare with Kainaat 1121?

1121 has the greater grain length and cooking elongation, so it wins where visible grain size drives the sale. PK-386 has a plumper kernel, stronger traditional aroma, and a lower price point, making it the higher-volume everyday line. Many importers stock both.

What is the difference between Steam, Sella, and Raw rice?

Raw is milled without heat treatment and has the softest texture. Steam is briefly steam-treated for firmer grains and lower breakage. White Sella is parboiled before milling for maximum firmness, and Golden Sella is parboiled longer, giving an amber colour and the most robust cooking behaviour.

What is the minimum order quantity?

One full container load is standard — approximately 25 to 27 metric tonnes depending on packing format and container type. Trial quantities may be arranged as part of a consolidated shipment for buyers evaluating a long-term programme.

Do you offer private-label packing?

Yes. We pack to buyer artwork in retail pouches and bulk bags, including brand printing, barcodes, nutritional panels, and destination-specific labelling requirements. Artwork should be supplied in print-ready format at the order confirmation stage.

Is PK-386 available year-round?

Yes. The paddy crop is harvested between October and December, but milling and supply continue throughout the year from stored paddy — which also improves cooking performance, since aged rice breaks less and cooks better than fresh-crop material.

Which documents accompany each shipment?

Commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading, certificate of origin, phytosanitary certificate, and fumigation certificate as standard. Additional certificates required by the destination country can be arranged where applicable.
